Supervisory Relationship: Reports to the Clinical Director.
Minimum Qualifications: Is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with a M.S. or M.A. in nursing from an approved graduate program or a B.S. Degree with five (5) years professional experience in community mental health or comparable experience as determined by the Psychiatrist.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain service hours in nursing at designated levels, recommend increases and decreases in the level of nursing service and time within HBHS;
- Maintain the quality and relevance of services offered by the nursing staff;
- Oversee the allocation of nursing time and assign activities to nursing staff as needed.
- Represent nursing up and across administrative lines and assess the administrative needs of the staff;
- Provide consultation and guidance to other staff regarding all aspects of Agency ’s work
- Interpret procedures and practices within and without HBHS
- Supervise the work of assignees. The Nurse shall provide active guidance and supervision to non-medical health professionals and such supervision shall be regular, timely and documented;
- Responsible for recruiting and hiring of nursing staff to positions approved by the Board;
- Responsible for at least annually evaluating each member of the nursing staff;
- Responsible for disciplinary action and termination of employment for members of the nursing staff;
- Responsible for assuring that nursing staff annually reviews and updates a staff development plan;
- Provide assistance to psychiatry for medication; laboratory and commitment follow-up with consumers, families and other agencies;
- Participate in community consultation, education, planning and outreach programs of HBHS;
- Participate in the disaster team;
- Participate in regularly scheduled clinical review meeting held by HBHS;
- Meet with the Administrator periodically and participate in general program operation decision making;
- Plan and evaluate the continuing education and in-service training needs of the nursing staff;
- Participate on Research Committee;
- Submit required clinical and administrative reports;
- Work with staff and other community resources where indicated in the coordination of services;
- Maintain professional development through continuing education;
- Provide direct services to consumers including medication management;
- Provide emergency services;
- Develop service and discharge plans with consumers;
- Document service contacts with and for consumers;
- Complete documentation in keeping with our standards and in a timely fashion;
- Provide consultation and education and community planning through outreach efforts to community groups, organizations, families and other interested parties regarding mental health and medication management; and
- Maintain confidentiality of consumer’s contacts.
Hours: At least (15) hours per week or as scheduled/approved by the Clinical Director.
