Reports to: Administrator
Minimum Qualifications: M.S.W. or M.A. in Social Work from approved graduate program, two (2) years professional experience in community mental health field, certified by the Academy of Certified Social Workers (LICSW); serves as a mental health professional as defined by Virginia laws.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Clinical Director is a LMHP and ensures overall oversight of the clinical operations at HBHS as well as clinical supervision of staff.
- Maintain service hours in social work at designated levels, recommends increases and decreases in the level of social work service and time within HBHS ;
- Maintain the quality and relevance of services offered by the social work staff;
- Oversee the allocation of social work time and assigns activities to social work as needed;
- Represent social work up and across administrative lines and assesses the administrative needs of that staff;
- Provide consultation and guidance to other staff regarding all aspects of work;
- Interpret Agency’s procedures and practices within and without HBHS;
- Supervise the work of assignees. If employees have not completed two years of active post-degree supervision, such provision shall be provided by the Social Worker. The Clinical Director shall provide active guidance and supervision to such employees and such supervision shall be regular, timely and documented;
- Responsible for recruiting and hiring of social work staff to positions approved by the Board
- Responsible for at least annually evaluating each member of the social work staff;
- Responsible for disciplinary action and termination of employment for members of the social work staff; coordinates social work Interns from accredited Masters of Social Work Program.
- Responsible for assuring that social work staff annually review and update a staff development plan;
- Participate in community consultation, education, community planning and outreach programs of HBHS;
- Participate on the disaster team;
- Participate in regularly scheduled clinical review meetings held by HBHS;
- Meet with the Administrator periodically and participate in general program operation decision making;
- Plan and evaluate the continuing education and in-service training needs of social work staff;
- Participate on Research Committee;
- Submit required clinical and administrative reports;
- Work with staff and other community resources where indicated in the coordination of services;
- Maintain professional development through continuing education; and
- Serve on the Quality Assurance Committee.
In addition, the Clinical Director completes the following responsibilities:
- Provide direct services including outpatient, intensive outpatient and day treatment services;
- Provide evaluation services including clinical assessment;
- Provide emergency services;
- Conduct social histories;
- Develop service and discharge plan with consumers;
- Document service contacts with and for consumers;
- Complete documentation in keeping with HBHS ’ standards and in a timely fashion;
- Provide consultation and education and community planning through outreach efforts to community groups, organizations, families and other interested parties;
- Maintain confidentiality of consumer’s contacts;
- Participate in the continuous quality improvement processes;
- Credentialed to provide after-hours emergency services; and
Hours: Maximum forty (40) hours per week or as scheduled/approved by the Administrator.
